Gary Browning has a variety of experience in education that provides him with a unique perspective on educating young people. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.A. in Mathematics and taught one year at Lubbock Monterey High School before finding his home in Graham. He taught all levels of math at Graham High School, from Algebra I to AP Calculus and during that time was recognized by his peers as the GISD Secondary Teacher of the Year and went on to become the Region 9 Secondary TOY. After teaching 11 years at GHS, Mr. Browning became the Secondary Mathematics Specialist at Region 9 ESC in Wichita Falls where his role was to provide professional development for teachers leading to professional growth and improved learning for students. After two years in that role, Mr. Browning returned to Graham ISD as the Assistant Principal at GJHS and Principal for the Graham Learning Center. Following that, he became the district Curriculum Coordinator and now, for the last nine years, has served as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for GISD. His favorite part of this position is collaborating with teachers and principals to improve instruction and student learning.
Mr. Browning has been married to his wife Rebecca for 26 years and they have two children. Lance is a senior at GHS and Emily who is a graduate of GHS and North Texas University in Denton and currently works as a florist. Mr. Browning has dedicated his career to improving student learning through effective teaching methods and personalized instruction.
